Some of the things that we do are deeply rooted. Until we can get to the root of something, we only look at the surface. We need to find what needs to be nurtured in the root cause. This week, the podcast focus is on a two-part interview with Shantell Riley.
Shantell was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is a mother of three sons, grandmother, registered nurse, end-of-life doula, holistic wellness practitioner, and advocate for mental health and death awareness. Shantell is the facilitator of Death Café MKE, where participants come together to talk about death. She is also the owner of Dignity With Departure that offers preparation and support for individuals for death and grief. As well as Blue Lotus Life, which offers holistic services and products to restore balance and harmony for the wellbeing of individuals. Through her personal and professional experiences with death, it was observed that we do not have enough conversations about death. Death is happening all around us in different forms. Without these conversations, we don’t have opportunities to discuss the best ways to support individuals when death occurs. Shantell decided to combine both her professional and personal experiences to educate and support individuals in the area of death. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, running, reading, connecting with nature, and researching alternative therapies for wellness.
